Professional Experience: 

After obtaining his BS degree in Dyeing and Finishing Engineering from China Textile University in Shanghai, Mr. Fan joined CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Office in August 1984. He was qualified as a patent attorney in 1986. From November 1990 to April 1992, he studied German and European patent law and practiced successively at the German Patent Office and German Federal Patent Court, and subsequently at the Patent and License Department of the former Hoechst AG in Frankfurt and an IP Law Firm in Munich. In July 1995, Mr. Fan further studied in Patent and License Department of BASF AG in Ludwigshafen.

During the years from 1984 to 1992, Mr. Fan's practice is focused on patent prosecution and enforcement. He handled a large number of patent prosecution cases in the fields of dyes, polymers, fibers, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural chemicals. Mr. Fan has rich experience in the patent reexamination and invalidation proceedings, administrative protection of pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals, licenses and agreements of patents, and in patent enforcement.

Mr. Fan served as the deputy director of chemical division of CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Office from 1993 to 1996.  From September 1996 to June 2002, Mr. Fan acted as the Chief Representative of Munich Office of CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Office.  During this period, he gave lectures on Chinese Patent Law to companies such as BASF AG, Aventis Pharma Deutschland GmbH, Henkel AG, Merck KGaA, and Ciba Specialty Chemicals Inc.

Mr. Fan joined China Sinda in December 2002. He served as the vice president in charge of patent issues since July 2003. He participated and took leadership in sophisticated cases of patent invalidation and litigation; and developed a large network of clients in EU, US, Japan, and Korea, especially in Germany. During his years in China Sinda, Mr. Fan established a manage system for patent attorneys and assistants. In 2008, Mr. Fan participated and directed the development of a Computer Patent Management System, an Electronic Document and Letter/Mail Distribution System, and an Electronic Archiving System, which are still the most advanced ones in China. Mr. Fan used to provide high quality IP services to some famous companies such as BASF AG，Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, Merck KGaA, Beiersdorf AG, 3m Innovative Properties Company, Exxonmobil Research and Engineering Company. 

Mr. Fan left China Sinda in 2012 and co-established Intewig & Partners in Beijing in 2013, serving as the managing partner.

Mr. Fan authored the Chapter "Patent & Trademark Protection in China" of the book "Doing Business in China".
